HID Readers & Wiegand Readers
 
Northern Computers Wiegand readers are virtually maintenance-free. With Northern
Wiegand readers you will have no continuing maintenance, repair or replacement
costs.
Wiegand readers offer high reliability, high security and flexibility at a
reasonable cost. These readers can be used anywhere, regardless of the
environment. Snow, rain, or extreme temperatures will not affect a Wiegand-based
reader. Wiegand readers are not affected by radio frequency interference or
external magnetic fields. You can place complete confidence in the ruggedness
and reliability of these readers.
Wiegand technology consists of a series of specially treated wires which are
embedded in each card. This proprietary manufacturing process, gives the treated
wires unique magnetic properties. When the card is passed through the Wiegand
reader, a sensing coil picks up the card number in the card. The reader then
transmits the card number to Northern access control system for processing.
Motorola ASP Proximity Series Readers
 
PR-ASR Proximity Series offers basic proximity features using the most popular
card reader technologies available on the market.
These readers are made of UV resistant plastic material, designed to meet the
needs of any access point, whether it be read distance or appearance.
Each reader is a low-profile, single-stage unit designed for mounting inside or
outside of any building. They can also, be concealed behind most building
materials reducing exposure to vandalism and weather problems.
All Proximity Series readers contain red, green and amber LED indicators, as
well as an independently controlled audio tone. These proximity readers use
simple wiring (from reader to panel) making upgrades easy.
Keypad

HID keypads may be used to provide access control security where no card is
used. The unsurpassed ability of these keypads to withstand almost any
environment enables the keypads to be installed in extreme climate conditions.
At the same time the aesthetic appearance allows the keypad to be used in the
nicest office.
The Piezo Technology which eliminates moving parts allows the keypad to be
activated by the users touch. Rather than moving keys which are likely to break
an audible beep and visible indicator provide feedback for the user. The
elimination of moving parts make the keypads very dependable and reliable. The
stainless steel design makes them very vandal resistant and easy to keep clean.
EntryProx

EntryProx provides single-door proximity access control for up to 2000 users. It
is ideal for small installations or remote locations when used in conjunction
with an online system, EntryProx can easily be switched to Wiegand output mode
and connected to any OEM controller.
This Stand Alone Reader is compatible with all 26-bit HID proximity cards or
keytags. It can also enroll most OEM or Corporate 1000 format cards and keytags
up to 37-bits. This built-in keypad allows programming and PIN entry. EntryProx
also features a detachable antenna module that can be mounted up to 10' away
from the control unit. The attractive durable unit can be mounted indoors or
outdoors.
UC-2000, UC-SOFT & AT-PAK

The Unicorn Computers' UC-2000 access control controller operates as total
stand-alone units with fully distributed databases. All valid card numbers,
timezones, relay pulse times, and alarm point shunt times are loaded into the
controller memory. The controller controls access to multiple buildings on a
stand-alone basis with no dependency on a central computer system. By utilizing
distributed technology, no more than 2 card readers are controlled by a given
controller thereby providing maximum reliability.

The UC-2000 controller supports 2 readers, 2 relay outputs (DPDT), 2 logical
signal outputs and 5 alarm input points. The memory on the controller can hold
65535 card numbers and 8030 transactions. To add more readers or alarm input
points, simply connect additional controllers to the communications port.
Unicorn Computers' UC-2000 access control system supports up to 63 controllers
on a single port that allowing you to control 126 doors and monitor 315 alarm
points per port. On 8 communication ports, over 1008 doors and 2520 alarm points
are possible.
